The Centre for Future Banking blog | BofA – MIT

We noted a while back that BofA and MIT were organising a Future of Banking lab.  Well it is now in place apparently and they have a blog.  [ hat tip James @ Bankervision ]

The Centre for Future Banking blog

Over at the Centre for Future Banking, which is a joint initiative between Bank of America and MIT Media Labs, work is going on to “invent the future of banking”. That may or may not be aspirational, but the fact of the matter is something else is happening over there as well.

They just launched a blog, written by the people working at the labs, about what they’re working on. They did it with a “powered by Bank of America” logo on it. And it sits at a URL which is very definitely owned by Bank of America.

As James points out, it is interesting that it does not follow the too often normal method of either a banker hiding his employer on his blog (I have been there before) or a sanitised non-personal “corporate” blog.

One thing I noted – Jeff makes a point of speaking in the first person.  Blogs have to be first person, full stop imho.  i suspect there are organisational hierarchy issues but all can do that 🙂

In any event good luck to the participants.  I love the concept.

  1. Colin,

Thanks for the thoughtful post. I’ve watched your work from afar for some time now. You have a great point of view and your site really raises the bar for everyone.

  2. @ Jeff – I am excited to follow your progress. While it may be small foot steps in silicon valley terms I totally get how big this is in bank land. Good luck and I wish you all success – don’t give up!!
